I’m so excited for our open house at 635 N McCadden on Sunday from 2-5!!!! Like all my favorite houses, this house has large paned windows that flood every room with sunshine. All the rooms are large and the flow is just right. The house is in move-in ready condition and remodeled in a clean, easy, neutral palette that’s calm and soothing. The gem of the house is the third floor attic space. It has windows facing north and south with views above the treetops and down the pretty residential street. There are two rooms in the attic and it’s such a cool, quiet hideaway space. The backyard is pretty amazing too – so green and landscaped and hedged. The owners put in a huge slate deck; there’s a trellis over the outdoor living room and the outdoor dining room is open to the sky and the stars. Of course the owners are an extra dose of lovely so my prediction is that the buyers their house attracts will be too; just like them. I love this house and I’m excited to see the excitement in the lucky buyers who get to call it home next.
The house at 535 N Formosa is a great offering too. It’s a one story Spanish home that sits on a 7701 square foot lot. We listed the property earlier in the year but it’s tenant occupied until Sept 14 so it couldn’t be delivered vacant at the close of escrow until close to the tenants’ move out date. Now that we’re close enough to deliver possession at close, the house is primed to sell. It has extra large public rooms that make for great entertaining. There are 3 beds, 2 baths, and a bonus room. And a huge grassy yard. We can show the house by private appointment with proper notice to the tenants and all Covid protocols strictly in place.
Coming very soon is 516 N Detroit. It’s a storybook traditional house that has 6 beds and 4 baths. The owner created 2 Air BnB units in his house and he collected $4000 a month while living in a private single story residence. It’s set up so that each tenant has their own entrance and their rooms are more like studio apartments. The master bedroom suite is the whole upstairs. And then there are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom at the front of the house. It’s kind of cool that everyone has their own space and privacy. This property is easy to show.
The highlight of this week’s Friday night dinner at my house is a garlic and parsley crusted veal breast pocket filled with spinach onion garlic mashed potatoes. I cooked it for many hours on a very low heat so it would be extra tender and flavorful. The best meat in town is by custom order from Jackie at La Brea Market; it’s beautifully prepared and the taste is exquisite. Dessert this week is my mom’s very quick and easy apricot pie; my mom used to freeze stacks of apricot pies in the summer so we could enjoy summer fruit pie for dessert all winter long.
