For the first time since last March we can do open houses again this Sunday! It will be so fun as a person who loves seeing houses to walk through all the houses now that they’re open! A seller asked me today if prices will rise now that open houses are allowed again. Prices are up and it’s more a function of limited supply, more demand than supply, low interest rates, and many people having better financial standing post Covid. Buyers who want to see and buy a house made appointments during Covid and they bought houses. Access wasn’t an issue for people who were determined to buy. Now that we experienced selling houses by appointment only, it will be interesting to contrast that experience with selling houses by open house showings. It’s exciting to take this big step back toward regular life!
People always ask why sellers are selling. Interesting to see the reasons at listing appointments. Two different couples are divorcing after too much togetherness in Covid. Two different sellers are selling to move further away from homelessness. One seller wants to get off a busy street to spend his days in quiet now that he works from home. Lots of people want more space now that they’re all home so much. And my favorite is people selling because they can afford a more expensive house post Covid. I love to see people succeed and move up!
It was fascinating to see the majestic tall spectacular black, white, and brown horses in the neighborhood this week with their distinguished LAPD riders in uniform with holsters and black cowboy hats. The policemen on horseback said their intention is to engage with the community and to establish a friendly presence. That sounds like goals to me. May we all engage with the diverse members of our community in a regal, upstanding, and friendly way and may we all unite with one another to serve as a protective respectful presence to all the people around us!
